Michael Y. Cannon's Obituary
CANNONMICHAEL Y., 73, passed away suddenly on August 9, 2012, leaving behind family and friends to remember a man who lived life to the fullest in both his personal and professional lives. One of the most honored and respected real estate appraisal experts in the country, Michael was the Executive Director of Integra-Miami/Palm Beach/Orlando/Naples-Sarasota and was the former President of Appraisal and Real Estate Economics Associates (AREEA) of Miami. In business for nearly half a century, he served as a trusted real estate advisor to investors and lenders throughout South Florida, the Caribbean, and across the United States. He had testified as an expert witness for the U.S. Senate Banking Committee, authored a weekly real estate column in the Business Monday Section of the Miami Herald, and was in demand across the country and around the world as a guest speaker and commentator on real estate issues. In the 1980’s Michael’s son Mark and son-in law Chris Librizzi joined AREEA. Surrounded by family, together, they helped to build AREEA into one of the largest commercial and residential appraisal firms in all of South Florida. Prior to Mike’s real estate career, he was a professional bowler. As a young man, Michael achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. In his later years, Mike became the consummate bachelor and grandfather. A popular resident of Coconut Grove, Mike will long be remembered by his moniker, Mad Dog. The life of every party, Mike loved his four grandchildren Hershel and Hailey Cannon, and Courtney and Carlie Librizzi. He will be sorely missed by his daughter Cindy Librizzi of Coral Springs, her husband Chris, his daughter-in-law Annette Cannon of Miami Beach, and his sister-in-law Edythe Cannon. Michael was predeceased by his son Mark, brother Dr. Stanley Cannon and parents Miriam and Irving Cannon.
