Millie (Milagros) Lane's Obituary
Milagros Lane, affectionately known as Millie, passed away peacefully in the early morning of Friday, September 15, 2023. Mille was surrounded by her loved ones in the comfort of her home, where she had lived for the past 56 years. Born in Guanica, Puerto Rico to parents Antonio and Carmen Morciglio on August 28, 1936, Millie learned the importance of family, kindness, loyalty and hard work. She was an exceptional student, who graduated high school two years ahead of her class. Millie never forgot where she came from and treated all people with respect.
Puerto Rico shaped Millie’s life immeasurably, and she treasured her time on the island. Millie would radiate with pride when she visited. In 1952, she, along with her parents and siblings, relocated to the Bronx, New York, where she began her first job at Debonair Belt in New York’s Garment District, demonstrating her early commitment to helping her family.
Millie, who previously had one son, and Stanley, who had two sons, united their families and together they had two daughters. After some time in Morristown, NJ, the Lane family settled in sunny North Miami Beach, Florida.
Millie played a vital role through her company, Diversified Property Services, Inc., in various projects, including Buenaventura Lakes, Kissimmee, Indian Lakes Estates, Lake Wales, and Country Star, Homestead.
Millie was an involved mother, serving as the PTA President at Ojus Elementary School, tirelessly advocating for much-needed air conditioning installation within the school premises. Her kindness and willingness to assist anyone in need served as an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kindness extended throughout the community, as she generously donated to a wide array of charitable causes.
Millie was an extremely helpful and hands-on grandmother, always lending a caring hand and nurturing spirit to her grandchildren.
Millie loved music, crossword puzzles, baseball and boxing. Millie had a talented green thumb and loved tending to her plants. She would often nurture her plants with loving words of affirmation.
Millie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stanley Lane, her son, Stewart Lane, her grandchildren, Rebecca Shapiro, Sandra Lane, and Dominic Lane, and her siblings, Nelson Morciglio, William Morciglio, and Rose Castro. She is survived by her sisters, Carmen Morciglio and Lydia Morciglio, her children: Jon Lane of Davie, Victor Lane (Licia) of Pembroke Pines, Bonnie Lane Freeman of Fort Lauderdale, and Donna Lane of Ft. Myers. Millie also leaves behind cherished grandchildren: Brenda Cooper, Matthew Freeman, Danielle Freeman (Jeremy), Joshua Freeman, Brandon Lane, and Aaron Lane.
