Milton Bandklayder's Obituary
BANDKLAYDER
Milton passed away peacefully on March 6, 2013, at the age of 93. He was surrounded at his bedside by Adelle, his loving wife of 65 years, his children, grandchildren, and daughters/granddaughters in law. Milton was born in the Bronx, New York in 1919 as the son of a pioneering union organizer and the grandson of a shoemaker. That, coupled with growing up during the Great Depression, shaped his steely work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. He never strayed from his personal motto: "honesty is the best policy." Milton met the love of his life, Adelle Lanzet, in the summer of 1945, at the close of World War 2 at a "Victory in Japan" party in Rockaway Beach, New York. Milton knew - that very day - that he had just met his "future wife" and he so advised his family when he got home that night. From that day on, Milton loved Adelle more than life itself, and he "bragged" to everyone about how lucky he was to be married to her. Milton worked full time to put himself through the City of College of New York, graduating and becoming a Certified Public Accountant. In the early years, Milton worked for the Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. and the United States Patent Office. From there he became a partner at Brout, Issacs & Co., CPA's and eventually moved on to Berkey Photo, Inc., ultimately serving as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He retired a number of times; but ultimately, he continued to work as an accountant until age 93. Milton also served as a volunteer Commissioner on the North Miami Beach Public Service Commission.
Milton was predeceased by his parents, Morris and Etta, and his siblings, Sidney, Doris and Ruby. Milton is survived by his loving wife Adelle, sons Steven, Daniel and Andrew, daughters in law Maria and Carolyn, grandchildren Melissa (Brandon), Nicole, Ian (Laura), Mitchell, Sari, Michael, Lauren and Michelle and loving family members Faith and Wendy. Milton was loved by everyone who knew him. We miss him greatly, but take comfort in our memories of the many happy years we shared with him. Chapel Service TODAY, March 8th at 11:30 a.m. at
