Stephen Finkelstein
My sympathies to his family and friends. This English gentleman was blessed with one of the finest singing voices any man ever possessed. I learned of him around 2012 when a fan on a Mario Lanza forum that I had been participating in for some years recommended him. Known professionally as “Robert Earl” he had a contract with Philips Records in the 1950s and 1960s. I located him on Youtube with some difficulty, as most attempts to locate his music resulted in being directed to the singer Robert Earl Keen instead. Search for him by one of the Youtube “channels” that uploaded many of his songs, such as “robertearlunofficial.” Or search Youtube for the collection “the complete Philips Recordings Robert Earl.” If you are diligent (and patient), you may find one of his CDs “The Magic of Robert Earl” or “Robert Earl If You Can Dream” on Amazon when they are available used. When I did find his music on Youtube, there was contact information for his fan club in England, and I have been in contact, on and off, with one of its members these past 13 years.
Sincerely,
Stephen Finkelstein
