I just saw this. I was a piano student of Mr. Berger at Combs College of Music in Philadelphia from 1973 to 1975. He was kind and so patient with me. I had tendinitis in my fingers but he didn't want me to give up. I am now 68 years old and my church pianist here in Vermont where I live. I am grateful to this man who showed me to not give up. Thank you, Mr. Berger!
I was one of Mr. Berger’s 1000 students. I studied with him and the Ornstein Conservatory from about 1954 to 1957. He referred to himself as Simon Legree. He was a most talented teacher and I have never forgotten him. I love classical music because of him. Now, at my age of 77, I am renewing my piano playing. I did play until the mid1990’s and then stopped. Thank you, Mr. Berger for showing me how to enjoy the piano.
