Nelson (Natale) Malavenda's Obituary
Malavenda, Nelson (Natale). We mourn the passing of Nelson, a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, who graced us with wisdom, love, and good laughter for 10 decades. He died on Thursday, February 26, 2015. He was preceded in death by Shirley, his wife of 67 years, his daughter, Janice; his parents Consolato and Sebastiana, his sister, Catherine, and his brothers Sam, and Peter. Nelson will be deeply missed by his sons, Nelson, Jr., David, and Gary; his daughter-in-laws Roberta, Laura, and Joyce; his grandchildren Nate, Joshua, Ethan, Sdyni, and Josh; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Nelson was born in Italy, but immigrated to Meriden, Connecticut. There he met and married Shirley Hoberman, the adoring love of his life. They subsequently moved to Miami in 1945 and raised their four children. Nelson ran his own successful home repair business, Nelson’s Painting, for over 50 years. He will always be remembered for his smile, warmth, kindness and his caring ways. He was a man that made you feel welcomed, like were you a lifelong friend -- even when meeting him for the first time. Nelson loved bowling, biking, and was an avid Miami Dolphins and Jerry Vale fan, but more than anything he loved his family. His devotion, kindness and warmth permeated all of his relationships. His compassion, integrity, exceptional generosity, selflessness, and fierce loyalty embraced all who knew him. No words can convey how much he will be missed by his family and friends.
