Nilo Alberto Aquirre's Obituary
AGUIRRE, Nilo Alberto
On the evening of January 21, 2016, Nilo Alberto Aguirre passed away after a battle with cancer. Alberto was comforted by his wife at the VA Hospital in Miami, FL at the time of his passing. Alberto was 72 years old. Alberto was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador on January 16, 1944. He was the second son of Juan Gualberto Aguirre and Rosa Esther Aguilar.
He came to the US at the age of 19 and shortly afterward began working at F.W. Woolworth’s. He worked there from 1964-1998, leaving temporarily for a tour of duty in Vietnam where he proudly served in our Army as a Combat Engineer stationed in the city of Da Nang.
Over the years, he enjoyed being surrounded by friends at informal gatherings. Alberto’s sense of fellowship is evidenced by several friendships that began at childhood and continued to the time of his death. He also loved to swim at the Surfside community pool where he made many friends. He gave back to the community by volunteering with the Surfside Business Association where he served as secretary.
Alberto was preceded in death by his father Juan Aguirre, mother Rosa Aguilar, and brother Juan Aguirre. Alberto is survived by his wife Angela Aguirre, son Alberto Aguirre, daughter Cindy Bard, step-daughter Ana Vanegas and husband Joseph Lussier, step-son Alejandro Vanegas, and two grandsons: Michael Bard and Nicholas Vanegas. We will all miss him very much!
