The honor and privilege of spending a year Fellowship (1980-1981) with the dynamic Dr. Norman Jaffe at the Miami Eye Foundation and the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute remains one of the greatest blessings of my life.
I think of Dr. Jaffe on a daily basis in conjunction with every cataract patient I take care of.
He taught me so much not only about Ophthalmology but also how to live life in general. The memories I have of him will live in my heart forever.
Thank you so much Dr. Jaffe for being such a bright light and stimulus in my life.
Your unique qualities as a human being, Doctor of Medicine, Physician, Surgeon and teacher were beyond exemplary. You have been and will remain a beacon not only to me but also to the entire global Ophthalmology community.
May your memory be for a blessing.
I send my condolences to the entire Jaffe family.
With affection, respect, love and admiration,
Barry Kusman, MD, FACS
I spent a year as Norman's fellow in 1981-82. He was a wonderful teacher who led by example. His even tempered patience and support were invaluable to me. I became good friends with Mark that year as well and Norman's wife Ann was gracious and welcoming to me during that year in Miami. I will never forget the Jaffe family and offer my most sincere condolences on their loss.
