Norman Meier's Obituary
Norman Max Meier (1939-2016) was a proud first generation American born to German Jewish immigrants, Else and Bernhard Meier. Norman grew up in New York City where he cultivated a love for baseball and the NY Yankees. He graduated from Columbia University with a pharmacy degree followed by a Masters of pharmacy business/administration from Long Island University.
Norman applied his education to forging a successful career in the pharmaceutical industry. As an account executive for a large medical advertising firm he successfully brought to market many products that still exist as “gold standard” in today's hospitals and pharmacies. In the 1970’s, he moved to Miami continuing his career as V.P. of Marketing and Sales for Key Pharmaceuticals He had a special penchant for successfully identifying, developing and marketing products and was talented at building successful companies around brands. He continued this “art form” throughout his last days as Executive Chairman of Centauri Surgical Systems which is developing a first to market neurological robotic device that has potential to change the field of brain surgery.
Norman loved his work but nothing was more important to him than family and friends. He had a tremendous impact on countless youth through his volunteer coaching and mentoring in baseball and basketball at the North Miami Beach Optimist Club. He had a big, bold, memorable personality with enormous capacity for sharing and loving those that meant so much to him. Thankfully, he has left his family with an arsenal of tales rich in history and humor. His presence will be sorely missed by his surviving wife, sons and daughter. He will forever remain in our heart and soul.
Funeral will be held on Monday, April 25th at 11 AM at Levitt Weinstein Memorial Chapels, located at 18840 West Dixie Highway, North Miami Beach, FL 33180 (305) 932-2700
