Dear sweet special friend:
Man strives for glory, honor and fame
That all the world know his name
Amasses wealth by brain and hand -
Becomes a power in the land
But when he reaches middle life
And looks back over years of strife
He finds that happiness depends
On none of these - But love of friends
You were the greatest - we had a blast - each one had their own shtick - and we all laughed and cried with each other. Irv grew up with most of you. All our kids shared in our lives. You were always there with a solution. Whether eating, drinking, partying, crying, laughing, or visiting. You are a part of our lives - you were part of our history." You made our lives richer..it was a time when love and friendships were the glue that kept us all together and still is.
You were “the group” - “our gang” -"our crowd" - "our second family" our friends. Actually you were Irv's friends growing up. I just happen to come along at the right time and that was at Rod & Norma's wedding. It was love at first sight. and so we shared our lives. You were all married with children when we started up.
We laughed and argued about social issues like siblings, sex, grass cutting, taxes, sex, work, sports, children, swapped recipes, card games, and sex. After four years of married . How lucky we were. When we moved to Sharon along came Normy & Barbara and Owie, Mooky & Eddy and a few years later, Dotty & Eliot. Norma and Rod remained in Quincy and we ha ope you would follow but opted to remain in Dorchester until your move to Florida - boo hoo.
We were all struggling to make a living. Some took a little longer to achieve their goals. This never deterred us from seeing each other during the week and on the weekends. If one couple could not afford to go out we would eat in. Everyone would contribute and as young marrieds, it was usually at your home. We shared family holidays, bar/bat mitzvahs, birthdays and anniversaries, mock weddings, costume halloween parties. We were together through divorce, the moves to Florida, along with the untimely deaths of children, husbands, siblings and parents. We could always depend on each other for comfort, honest opinions, and more than anything else - laughter. We ran a mock wedding for you guys (Pasey the c... and Bayla the p...., a costume gala on Halloween, we played together, loved and laughed -
And yet with it all, we are still attached at the hip. We are emotionally one - when you hurt, we hurt....Still calling, still together, still looking for advice especially from you. How lucky you are to have had such a strong and loving relationship with Paul and your boys. You and Paul were generous with your love. You were the glue that made all our parties fun.
We knew it would last a lifetime....we love you because you are easy to love....How lucky are we to have you in our lives. May the beat go on..........Jacky
