Paula Helene Friedland's Obituary
Paula Helene Friedland (aged 89) peacefully passed on September 23, 2025. She was survived by her husband of 69 years Joel Friedland, her sister-in-law Priscilla Friedland and her children Mark (and Hunter), Robin and Vicki (and Warren), her nephews Gary and Robert Simon as well as her grandchildren Michael, Jennifer, Heather, Sean, Lauren, Jordan, Ali, Stephanie, David, Brad and Carson and 19 great grandchildren.
Paula's parents Harold and Mildred Simon moved to Norfolk, Virginia in the 1930s, where she was born on May 23, 1936. As a freshman at the University of Miami she met Joel and they married two years later on July 1, 1956. Paula worked tirelessly to raise her three children who came in quick succession from 1957-1961 and to support Joel as he built his business. The kids have fond memories of Paula working on the ledger books at the dining room table. Over the years, Paula became passionately involved in charitable causes near to her heart, primarily focusing on Jewish charities through the UJA and the FIDF, the latter in support of Israeli war veterans wounded in battle and in need of medical and educational assistance. Paula also brought a personal touch to philanthropy, serving as a counselor and mentor to breast cancer survivors and women in need from all walks of life. Paula survived but always held close to heart her brother Jerome Simon and her brother-in-laws Allan and Mitchell Friedland, and her in-laws Ralph and Francis Friedland. The family will always hold Paula near and dear to their hearts.
In Lieu of flowers the family suggest that donations be made in memory of Paula Friedland to Friends of the IDF (FIDF) https://www.fidf.org or to Mount Sinai Medical Center Foundation https://www.msmc.com/foundation
