Pauline Alter's Obituary
ALTER, PAULINE of Bay Harbor Islands, FL passed away early Friday morning at the age of 96 with loved ones by her side. A strong, loyal, independent, extremely generous and family-oriented mother, grandmother and sister, Pauline was taken from us just 7 weeks shy of her 97th birthday. Born on March 6, 1917 in Brooklyn, NY to Lena and Jacob Levin where she eventually met the love of her life, Ben Alter. The couple married in 1939 and had two children, Ronald and Carolyn. The Alter family moved to Bay Harbor Island, FL in 1955, and it was there where this consummate family woman raised her children, and stood by her husband's side for over 74 years. Pauline was a founder at Mount Sinai Medical Center, longtime member of Temple Menorah, as well as the Beth Moshe Congregation, and a supporter of charities such as Fight for Sight. A constant source of unconditional love and encouragement, Pauline, equipped with a heart of gold, was always very active and involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren.
As Pauline rests peacefully, she joins her brother Alvin, and her beloved grandson, Gregory in heaven. She is survived here on earth by her husband, Ben, her children Carolyn and Ronald, her brother Ralph Levin, sister-in-law Cookie, and her grandchildren Jeffrey Horowitz and Craig Alter. Pauline was the best sister, wife, mother, and grandmother anyone could ask for, and her beautiful memory will remain in our hearts and minds for eternity.
I love and miss you, Grandma! Chapel Services will be held at 11:00 am, Sunday, Jan. 19 at LEVITT-WEINSTEIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 18840 West Dixie Highway, North Miami Beach, FL (305) 932-2700.
