Philip Stander's Obituary
STANDER, PHILIP, 80. Passed away June 7, 2014, in Miami Beach, FL. Born in Brooklyn, New York, to parents Dr. William and Pearl Stander, Philip moved with his family to Miami Beach as a teenager and happily lived the rest of his life in the city he loved. Philip was married for 53 years to his wife Marilyn and together they had four children, Gail Kapitulnik (Philip), Alan Stander, Wendy Frank (Roger Schmorr), and William Stander (Lorene). Philip is survived by seven grandchildren, Lili, Amanda, Staci, Carli, Lauren, Erin, and Ethan; his sister-in-law Marianne (brother Ronald, deceased); and nephews and niece Maurice, Jackie, Scott, and Bill. Philip's gentle and humble nature touched the lives of many people during his life, but probably none more so than his treasured friends and coworkers in the Pretrial Division and elsewhere at the Miami-Dade County Corrections Department. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank all those who brought great love and comfort to Philip in his final days, especially hospice nurses Barbara, Chris, German, Ira, Irma, and Leudmila ("Yamalah!"), and special caregiver Gertie. Services will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at 10:00 AM at Blasberg-Rubin-Zilbert Memorial Chapel, 720 Seventy-First Street, Miami Beach, Florida. (305) 865-2353 Burial to follow at Mt. Sinai Memorial Park Cemetery at 1125 NW 137 Street, Miami, FL.
