Reba meant the world to me. She was my only relative that had lived in and really loved Philadelphia and The University of Pennsylvania. When she heard that I was moving to Philly, she made sure that I knew everything that I needed to, and where to find friends if I needed help. I respected Reba and modeled my own career after her. She was always a lady, and spoke of her son, Ralph, and daughter Elsie, so proudly and with much love. I will never forget her advice, which I gratefully took, when I was working in the Philadelphia School District; she told me that I could do anything and be anyone, as long as I supervised teachers fairly, with an “iron fist in a velvet glove”. I miss her very much.
