Renie Zibman's Obituary
Renie Zibman, 88, passed away peacefully at Memorial Hospital in Hollywood, Florida on May 31, 2022.
Renie was born in Brooklyn, New York to Blanche and Bernard Kleid. She was the oldest of two children. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Steven Kleid.
She was a wonderful wife to Henry (Hank) Zibman, mother to sons David Zibman and Michael Zibman, mother-in-law to Lora Zibman and Jamie Zibman and her beloved grandchildren Alyx and Jaclyn Zibman. She was also a dear friend to many, who will certainly miss her quick wit and sharp tongue.
Renie was very artistic and loved to paint portraits (she was a people person) and quilt (she also did Macrame when that was the rage). She had a love for watching ice skating. She loved telling the story about driving from Hollywood to Orlando by herself to watch the Olympic Trials.
She was a very strong-willed woman and would not back down if she had a cause to champion. She spearheaded a neighborhood coalition to go to the Dade County Commissioner's office to dump garbage in their office to protest a garbage strike in the early 1960's. She also got MTA (Metro Transit Authority) to provide a bus for the local junior high school for children who had no way to get home from school.
She volunteered countless hours for the National Kidney Foundation, Hospice, Dade County Schools, Sunland Training Center and the Broward County Library System.
She and Hank traveled the world in the last two decades or so and loved meeting all sorts of people around the world.
In lieu flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Hospice Unit at Hollywood Memorial South. Donate here: https://seasonsfoundation.org/donate/
A memorial service will be held at Beth David Memorial Gardens. 3201 N. 72nd Ave Hollywood, FL on Monday June 6, 2022, at 2:00 pm.
