Rhoda Caan's Obituary
CAAN
Rhoda April 15, 1922– June 21st, 2013 - Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She is survived by her three devoted children, daughter Harriet Caan, of Parklands, FL, son Martin Caan of Los Angeles, CA and daughter Bette Caan of Greenbrae, CA. She is predeceased by her husband Jack Caan, her grandson, Adam Molot, her brother Marshall Butler and her sister Carol Weinstein. She will always be remembered as the warm and cuddly grandmother by her grandchildren, Adam Sloane, Chloe, Marissa, Arthur and Liza. She was born and raised in New York City, went to Julia Richmond high school, where she graduated at the age of 15 and then on to study at NYU. In 1942, she met and married Jack Caan, her husband of 65 years. They raised their three children in New York where she was active in the Brandeis Book Club and Maimoindes. In the late sixties, she and Jack moved to North Miami Beach which remained her home for the last 45 years. She and Jack loved to travel to Europe and did so almost every year while they could. She was an active member of the City of Hope, and an avid Mah Jongg player. Her family was her life and she was always there for any one of them who needed her. She was the personification of “easygoing” and remarkable in that all who met her liked and admired her. Her number one quality was her ability to give unselfishly and love unconditionally. She lived a long and rewarding life and was well taken care by her adoring daughter Harriet, her full-time caretaker of six years, Frita Pierre. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Jack and her grandson, Adam, at Lakeside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Phyllis Dropkin Chapter of the City of Hope at 1000 Corporate Dr. #260, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33334, [email protected] Services will be held on Monday, June 24, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at
