Richard H. Bickford's Obituary
Chief Warrant Officer (Ret.) Richard H. Bickford passed away on August 4, 2015 after a long illness. He was born in Norway Maine on July 10, 1935. He served in the U.S. Army from July 1953 to February 1974. He was a Bronze Star recipient, along with many other medals and awards. During his career he served in Austria, Italy, Korea and Vietnam. After retirement he devoted some time to volunteer work in the community before accepting a position with the U.S. Army Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He fully retired in 1997 with a combined total of 42 years of service to his country. He was a past member of the Sons of the American Revolution, and a current member of the Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War, the Society of the War of 1812, the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judith Bickford, two daughters, Catherine Jean Chavez of Mocksville, NC, and Clarice Joy Kodsi of Miami Shores, FL, two sons-in-law, two grandsons, two granddaughters, and three great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project.
