Susan Shilane
I worked with Rissa Katz for a number of years at the Northeast Branch of the Miami-Dade Public Library System in Aventura. Rissa very capably assisted me with the many information requests and other work we had to handle in the Reference Department, was quite literate, and was interested in writing, especially nostalgic stories. She was always well-dressed and was upbeat and friendly to the staff and the public. I also witnessed over the years how attentive and caring she was as a wife and mother to her family and often reminded me of my own mother, though she was not quite old enough to be. After we both had retired, we would get together over lunch along with our mutual friend and co- worker, Marilyn Steinberg. We also often caught up on what was doing in our lives over the phone. I am sorry for the loss to her family and will miss her friendship.
