Robert A. Cohn's Obituary
Cohn, Robert A., "Bob", 88 of Miami Beach, Florida passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, September 9, 2016. He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Max and Frances Cohn, brother of Leonard, and Arthur Cohn.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Maxine, and children, Dr. Jimmy (Lisa) Cohn, Janis (Dr. Myer) Roszler, Lisa (Rich) Bauch, and Elaine (Robin) Cohn. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Matt Cohn, Alex Cohn, Lauren Bauch, Anna Bauch, Elisheva Roszler, Dr. Shira (Dr. Kivi) Steinberger, Rachel Roszler, Amichai Roszler, Esq, and great grandson, Gideon Steinberger.
A gifted artist, Bob’s work has appeared in galleries in Miami Beach and his painting of the Skokie Swift is displayed in a transportation museum in Skokie, Illinois.
For years, Bob ran the Dakota Packing Company, a meat purveyor in Chicago. After retiring, he worked as a social worker for HIAS and helped countless Russian Jewish refugees adjust to their new, American home.
Bob loved opera, cantorial music, tennis and reading. He was also an enthusiastic historian and Marlin’s fan. All who met him adored his witty sense of humor. As a committed Jew, Bob embraced Israel and his rich Jewish tradition.
Services will be held at Beth David Memorial Gardens, 3201 N. 72nd Avenue, Hollywood, FL 33024 on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at 2:00pm. Please send any donations in memory of Robert A. Cohn, to HIAS at www.HIAS.org
