Dr. Robert Allen Collins' Obituary
Dr. Robert Allen Collins 78 of Miami, Florida passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2020. Beloved husband of Sharyn Collins, loving father of Greg, Brent, Matthew & Lisa, dear brother of the late Sandie, cherished grandfather of Logan, Josh, Ben Reid & Sloane. He was born at Mercy Hospital in Canton, Ohio on June 26, 1941. In 1946, the Cohen family legally changed their name to Collins. After graduating from North Miami Senior High in 1959, he attended the College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City. He then joined the Army as a Flight Surgeon and Captain primarily delivering babies. After having two sons of his own, Greg and Brent, they moved back to Miami and had a third son Matthew and began a private medical practice. Not long after he married the love of his life Sharyn in 1974, they expanded their family with daughter Lisa. Still an old-fashioned doctor, he also became the youngest President of Dade County Osteopathic Medical Association. He loved his music; listening and performing. He loved Jeopardy. More importantly, he loved helping people. We have lost a cherished friend a loving and supportive father and an exceptional husband.
