Robert P. Malina's Obituary
Robert Paul Malina
November 25, 1940 – January 29, 2015
Robert Malina was a very loving father to Erin and Craig, husband to Barbara, former husband to Ann, and friend to many. He put his passion, dedication, and careful thought into everything he did.
And oh how he loved his puppies – Sparky, Sammy, Bogie, Chloe and Chunky Monkey – and all the ones that came before especially Mario, Muffin, and Pitski, the first of the crew. Rob’s greatest gift to the world was how he rescued and cared for the small dogs that had the good fortune to catch his eye – and all the people that found love and new life with one of these amazing creatures he would place with them.
Rob and Barbara founded and ran the nonprofit organization Small Dog Adoption in Broward County. They saved hundreds of the most sensitive dogs over the years and put such love and care into finding just the right fit with the right people in the right home that it almost always resulted in an instant new permanent family addition for those adopting. Although no one could possibly understand what it actually took to make this magic happen, it was clearly evident there was something special going on that could only come from extreme love for the dogs.
Rob lived a very active life and certainly had a zest. A zest for cooking (and eating…) great food, a zest for travel, a zest for the serenity of fishing, and a zest for playing 18 (or 36…) holes of golf with his friends or his son. He was always good for a bunch of laughs on the course and out in the world, and those that knew him very much enjoyed his company.
He was a master teacher to his children, always wanting the best for them and their success in the world. His passion for teaching showed how much he cared and loved his kids.
He will be missed by all who knew him and will remain in our hearts forever.
