Roberta June Donsky Miller's Obituary
Roberta June Donsky Miller, fondly known as Bobbie, died peacefully on March 10, 2017 at her Tamarac residence. She was the widow of Sidney Miller, who predeceased her on July 30, 1998, at the age of 69.
Bobbie was born in Far Rockaway, N.Y. on June 18, 1931. She was the beloved daughter of Mattie and Sol Donsky. She graduated from Far Rockaway High School in 1948.
Bobbie and Sid married on Oct 18, 1950. As a newly married couple, they resided in Brooklyn N.Y. In 1962, with their growing family, they moved to East Meadow, Long Island. The family became congregants of Temple Emmanuel.
In 1970, Bobbie, Sid and their 3 children, Jan, Steven, and Debbie, moved to Hollywood, Florida. Bobbie served as bookkeeper of their new business, Miller Woodcraft. In 1972, Bobbie pioneered the first woman-owned decorative plumbing and hardware showroom, known as Millers’ Fine Decorative Hardware.
Bobbie can be remembered by her devotion to family and service to others. Most memorably was her active volunteer work. She was a successful fundraiser for United Cerebral Palsy, becoming the chair for the annual candy (poppycock) fundraising drive.
Bobbie cared for her beloved husband Sidney during his chronic illness and untimely passing at age 69. As well, Bobbie devotedly cared for her parents, Mattie and Sol, and aunts Pauline Connor and Edythe Bogue.
Bobbie leaves behind many grieving family and friends who mourn her passing; daughter Jan Miller, son Steven Miller and wife Maura, daughter Debbie and husband Dave Huntsberger, and grandchildren Spencer Schiff, Sara Megan Miller, and Shane Huntsberger.
The family thanks Bobbie’s caregivers Sasha and Charmaine, and TrustBridge Hospice team for their compassion during Bobbie’s final days.
The memorial service will be held on Tuesday March 14, 2017, at 11am at Levitt-Weinstein Funeral Home, 8135 W. McNAb Rd, Tamarac 33321 followed by internment at Lakeside Cemetery, 10301 NW 25 St. Miami Fl 33172.
