Ronald M. Cohen's Obituary
Obituary for Ronald M. Cohen
Born August 3, 1934 in Boston, MA
Ron Cohen passed away suddenly on May 27, 2019 in Davie, Florida. It’s fitting that he died after giving a Memorial Day presentation to his new friends at Oakmonte Village, a facility into which he had recently moved. A longtime resident of Colony Point condominiums in Pembroke Pines, Florida, Ron’s early years were spent growing up in Watertown, MA while summering in Gloucester, MA. He had very fond memories of spending his summers on the beach, playing baseball and football with friends and participating in many sports at Watertown High School. He graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and worked in various aspects of publishing and sales throughout his work years. Ron was well known for his cheerful disposition, wit, sparkling blue eyes and his never fading tan. In the late 50’s Ron was stationed at Fort Huachuca, Arizona in the Army Intelligence Department and was honorably discharged as a Major. He was very proud of serving the United States and was always ready to write and do presentations for Veteran’s and Memorial Day events. While living in Longmeadow, MA Ron was an active Member of Sinai Temple Brotherhood and was a Temple Youth Group adviser. Ron coached Little League Baseball and Softball and many children learned their good sportsmanship skills from him. Ron leaves behind his daughter Amy Cohen of Longmeadow, MA, son David Cohen and his wife Karen Ulrich of Newtown, PA and daughter Debra Reynolds of Northampton, MA and his 5 grandchildren, Drew Cohen, Madalyn Cohen, Dean Cohen, Kendall Reynolds and Sophie Reynolds. He also leaves behind his nephews Roy Cohen and Mark Cohen and his many, many friends who appreciated his good company, friendliness and willingness to help.
Ron will be laid to rest with military honors at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery for Veteran’s in Newtown, PA. Donations may be made to The American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005 www.donatenow.heart.org
