Rosalie May Riell's Obituary
Rosalie May Lebowitz Riell, 97, the matriarch of her family, peacefully passed away on April 29, 2025 in DuBois, PA. Born and raised in Ellwood City, PA to her beloved parents, Helen and Adolf Lebowitz, she studied for a short time at Penn State before marrying her husband of 67 years, Martin Riell. They moved to Erie, PA, where they raised two daughters, Sherry Chessin (Neil) and Alisa Silverman (Ray Moyer). Together they were the proprietors of the MR Shop, a menswear clothing store.
Roz was an avid baker, card player and book reader. She was always game and lived life to the fullest. She touched many people and will be deeply missed.
She is pre-deceased by her beloved husband and daughter, Sherry, her brother, Dr. Milton Lebowitz and her sister and brother-in-laws, Shirley and I. Michael Brown. In addition to her daughter Alisa and son-in-law Neil, she is survived by grandchildren Dayna Chessin, Andrea Chessin Harris (Michael Harris), Jacob Silverman, Sean Silverman (Caroline Prisant-Silverman) and great grandchildren Skylar & Charli Harris, and another great grandchild arriving soon to Sean and Caroline, in addition to her sister-in-law, Leni Lebowitz and extended family.
In remembrance, a gathering will take place on Wednesday, May 7th at 10:30am at S. Florida National Veterans Cemetery in Lake Worth, FL.
Donations may be made to the hospice organization of your choice.
