Rose Cohn Oroshnik's Obituary
OROSHNIK, Rose Cohn, age 97, passed away June 16, 2015. A devoted wife and mother She was born and raised in South River, NJ, to parents Louis and Rebecca Cohn. Rose was a graduate of Douglass College, the women's college of Rutgers University. She had a Masters in Library Science, and was both a librarian and French teacher in New Jersey, before marrying Samuel Oroshnik in 1955. Rose and Sam resided in Coral Gables, where they raised their three daughters.
Always a scholar, Rose went to college in an era when few women did. She was an avid reader, interested in history, especially Jewish history.
As a supporter of Israel and always active in Jewish and Zionist causes, Rose was an active member of Beth David Congregation Sisterhood, and the Menorah Chapter of Hadassah.
Rose is survived by her children Miriam Oroshnik, Amy Oroshnik, Ruth Oroshnik Bramson, son in law Steve Bramson, and grandson Joshua Bramson. She was predeceased by husband Samuel of 56 years, brothers Max Cohn, Yonty Cohn, sisters Yetta Cohn and Fanny Cohn Buchberg.
A person of great dignity, elegance, sharp wit and intelligence, Rose was very much loved, admired and respected. She is already deeply missed by those who knew her. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Jewish charity of your choice.
Funeral Service will be at 9:30 am Friday, June 19, at Beth David Congregation Chapel, 2625 SW 3rd Ave, Miami, FL 33129, followed by a Burial at Mount Sinai Cemetery, 1125 NW 137th St, Miami, FL 33168.
