Ruben Matz's Obituary
MATZ, RUBEN was a deeply spiritual gentle man who walked with G-d all his life. He was 76 years old. On Friday, September 22, 2017 he peacefully passed to the next life. Ruben was born on December 10, 1940 in Cien Fuegos, Cuba to David and Cila Matz who had fled from Eastern Europe. His siblings are Jacobo Matz, Dora Motola, Isaac Matz, and twin brother Uchi Matz. He met and married Gladys and they celebrated 54 joyous years together. They created and built a successful women's clothing business named Exit Shops as well as a real estate business. His focus and priority was always family so he and Gladys raised their 4 children-Betty, Jeanette, Stanley and Arlene and were blessed with 12 grand children they adored. His passion was his family, his heritage and the study of Torah. He was an active philanthropist and baal tzedakah. He was adored by his wife, children, grand children, siblings, entire family and all who met and knew him. We were all blessed by his presence in our lives and will deeply miss him. Services will be held on Monday, September 25, 2017 at 12:30 pm at Levitt Weinstein 18840 West Dixie Highway in Aventura, Florida. Burial to follow at 2:30 pm Lakeside Memorial 10301 NW 25th Street Miami, Florida 33172. The family will sit Shiva, hold services/minyan and receive visitors at the home of Betty Matz Gelsky 10090 NE 12 Ave. Miami Shores, FL 33138 Evenings: Monday-Thursday 6:15pm-9:00 pm. Mornings: Tuesday-Friday 8:15 am-10:15 am. Donations in honor of Ruben can be made to the "RUBEN MATZ FOUNDATION" which will benefit the study of Torah and help others "walk with G-d" as he did.
