Ruth Altman Broadbent's Obituary
Ruth Altman Broadbent, 88 years old, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 28th, 2019 in Aventura, Florida. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts on January 23, 1931 to Jean and Harry Zide. A childhood prodigy pianist who studied at the New England Conservatory of Music, Ruth was passionate about music her entire life. She moved to her beloved Miami in 1948. A founding member of Temple Beth Am, Ruth started the choir and, together with her husband, helped to purchase the land on which the Temple still stands. She was a consummate mother who adored her children more than anything in her life. Survived by her children Nolan Altman (Pamela Jones), Mona (Brian) Seltzer, and Sanford Altman (Jeana Katz), and her brother Nelson (Pat) Zide, she was also the adored grandmother to Lacey, Justin, Hannah Jenna, Lucas, Blake, Corey, Alexa and Nicholas. She was the favorite Aunt and Great Aunt to many and loved nothing more than to have her family around her. In lieu of Flowers, the family would appreciate donations to United Jewish Generations. 16820 NE 6th Court, North Miami Beach, Fl 33162. Funeral services will take place at Temple Beth Sholom, Miami Beach, Wednesday, May 1 at Noon. Internment will immediately follow at Mt. Nebo, Miami, Florida.
