We write these words in loving memory of our Auntie Ruthie. Auntie Ruthie always played a big role in our lives even though we lived so far away, because our mother spoke about her twin sister so often. On our vacations to Florida, Mom would reenter this exotic (to us) world of her family that looked to us almost like a transformation. The bond with her sister Ruthie was magnetic. Our mother, who was quieter than her sisters, came alive, became louder and animated when she and Ruthie were in the same room. We witnessed throughout our lives a profound, lifelong bond between our mother and her twin sister.
Auntie Ruthie was for us, always filled with life, humor, activity, friendships, and fun. Her home with Uncle Paul was a place of companionship and love. Uncle Paul treated Ruthie like a queen. He took care of his patients and Ruthie took care of everything else. I suspect it was the same way with Richard during all the many years, Ruthie and Richard were married. Auntie Ruthie adored her children and their friends who were always “cute and sweet.” We can only imagine her pride and affection for her granddaughters.
We are deeply sad today for Auntie Ruthie’s passing. We are very sad for all of you and for our mother. And we want all of you to know that we will always have only the fondest memories of our Auntie Ruthie. May her memory be as a blessing.
Lovingly,
