Samuel Simon's Obituary
Samuel (Sam) J. Simon, Weston Florida died peacefully at the Cleveland Clinic on Saturday January 23, 2021, due to complications related to the Covid 19 virus with his loving family by his side. He was born on January 20, 1949 to Clara Arbeit Simon and Nathan Simon. Sam is survived by his beloved wife Sharon Chapin Simon, his daughter Sabrina and grandsons Jonathan and Raymond who were the apples of his eye. He also leaves to cherish his memory, his sisters Sandra (Sandy) Simon Rybaltowski (John), Clifton Park, NY, and Ellen Simon Stublen, Kitty Hawk, NC, and is predeceased by his sister Melissa Simon, Queens, NY, and his sister-in-law Becky Castelline, Las Vegas, NV.
Sam loved and was loved by his in-laws: Beth Bishop (Morgan), Deb Chapin, Chuch Burns (Bob), Miriam Genette (Sam), and Daniel Chapin (Kathy). Sam loved and was loved by his many nieces and nephews including Leigh and Matt Rybaltowski, Tyler and Daniel Stublen, Jessica Antolick (John), Sammy Nick Genette (Valerie), Ryan Burns (Kristiana), Logan Burns, Tina, Lisa and Cindi Castelline and six grand nieces and nephews. Sam had a gigantic heart and fiercely loved his family and friends. He was ultra-protective of his nieces and nephews, even worrying about crossing the street.
Sam was an attorney for 45 years, most recently at the Ansel & Miller law firm. He attended Lehigh University and Binghamton University where he received a bachelor’s degree in psychology and his doctorate in Jurisprudence from Boston University.
Sam was named “Sui Generis,” “One-of-a-Kind” by his high school English teacher and was chosen valedictorian of his 1967 class at Farmindale, NY. Sam had a voracious thirst for learning and knowledge. He loved all movies, opera, sports, travel and books of all genres. He had a tremendous sense of humor and loved quoting jokes he heard over the years, especially those pasted down by his dad. He even joked when he was admitted to the hospital.
Sam “broke the mode” when he was born, as there was truly no one like him.
