So deeply sorry to hear about the passing of Dr. Sam Strauss. He was our Veterinarian for over 30 years. He was a great diagnostician and a wonderful and kind person. Our pups missed him when he retired not too long ago. Our deepest condolences to his family. May his memory be a blessing.

My deepest condolences to the family of Dr Samuel Strauss. I am deeply saddened and shocked to hear that he passed away shortly after retiring. He was the best Vet that I ever had. I have been a client of his since 1988 when he was at the Pembroke Lakes Animal Hospital in Pembroke Pines,FL. He was always so kind, compassionate and had superior knowledge in the field of veterinarian medicine. He took care of the 3 generations of dogs and cats during the 37 years that I knew him. It's just so sad that I will never see him again. He was like family and a dear friend to me. When I walk into the Weston Road Animal Hospital now, I expect to see him; then it hits me, he's not there anymore and I cry. The world just loss a great Veterinarian and friend. There is such an emptiness now. I had such a great rapport with him. I can only imagine what the family must be experiencing. He was dearly loved he will be dearly missed and will remain in the hearts of many forever. My prayers are lifted up for the Strauss family. I also walk with you during this difficult season of mourning. May he rest in peace.
Judy, heartfelt condolences to you and the girls. I don't know if you recall, but I was at your wedding with Andrew Lebow, and we were so thrilled for our dear friend, Sam. We could plainly see he had found the perfect match!
It's almost impossible to believe he's gone and that it's been decades since we sat together in Hewlett HS Spanish class...fyi: no surprise, he was waaaay ahead of me in math and science, so we didn't share those classes. But I do have a favorite memory from Spanish, which anyone who was in Senorita Lucas's Spanish 4 our junior year will undoubtedly recall. It still makes me laugh!
Miss Lucas had a habit of calling attention to anyone who was daydreaming by asking, "Estas enamorado?" (Are you in love?) Most people were sufficiently embarrassed by her question to straighten up. But not Sam. He turned the tables, when one memorable day, she interrupted our lesson with the familiar "Samuel, estas enamorado?" Without missing a beat, he replied, "Si Senority, con usted." I don't think it needs any translation because Srta. Lucas, being young and single (and attractive) back then, turned red as a beet, while the rest of us, needless to say, lost it. Not sure how many minutes it took for her to get the class back under control, but Sam just sat there with a huge grin.
All of which is to say, he was a unique, big personality and full of affection for his friends and will be deeply missed!

Dr. Strauss was my vet for many years and was always so kind to me and my cats. I had heard recently that he retired and was shocked to find out he passed away so soon afterward. My condolences to his family and friends. A great vet and great guy.
So sorry to hear of Sam's passing and want to extend Cheryl and my condolences. One memory -- that would be almost impossible, there are so many -- his epic fall in Mrs. Mand's math class, our lab group in Mr. Mayhew's physics class, umping little league games together (Sam always volunteered to call balls and strikes), sitting around Shirley's kitchen table where we were always well-fed, the much-used corn cob pipe, watching the yule log burn on WPIX while listening to Jimi Hendrix, late night wanderings and musing about those Big Questions, celebrating our wedding, a trip of ours to Florida when we were still living on the East Coast, free consultations over medication for our epileptic dog Murphy, trading baseball stories the year Barry Bonds was hitting coach for the Marlins -- and so many more. It seems like just yesterday that we were talking about retirement and hoping we'd see each other soon for our first visit to Florida spring training. I will miss you my dear friend. That you were in our lives for even this too short time was a great gift.
