Elliot Wasserman
My first grade teacher. She was a powerful figure towering over the 6 year old first grade me. I have been grateful all my life that she was my teacher. I still possess distinct memories of her in the classroom at Sabal Palm Elementary in 1961, even now, almost 60 years later. My family considered her a friend for years after I was her pupil. I know that many of her students look back with thanks upon this indefatigable force that pulled us forward. We are the results of her dedication, her sense of purpose and responsibility, and, though we might not have sensed it at the time, her love for us all. We were graduates of Mendelow! So fortunate.
