Although Selma Fisher was my first cousin, I always called her Aunt Selma when I was young because she was old enough to be my mother. She was in fact my God Mother, which she and her mother, my beloved Aunt Betty, always took pride in reminding me.
On the inside of the "Bencher" which was used at my Bris, is a Cerificate of Circumcision which lists my God Parents.
Selma was always so loving to me. It amazed my wife to see how warm she was. Selma was always self sacrificing. I will always remember her as an extremely devoted daughter, mother, nice, cousin and friend. She was the ultimate peacemaker, never able to hold a grudge, always able to see others in the best possible way.
After I was sick and hospitalized, Selma called me every week to see how I was feeling. I have not only lost a dear cousin, but also a wonderful friend.
