Selma Silverman's Obituary
Selma Silverman our beloved mother, cousin, aunt, grandmother and friend was born April 24, 1927 in Brooklyn, New York to Fanny and Eddie Mendelsohn.
She is survived by her children Shoshana Avree and Scott Barnett, grandchildren, Shane and Sawyer Barnett, nieces, Linda and Marilyn Babok and nephew Barry Babok.
Selma was a woman before her time, very bright and independent. She built a successful cosmetic business with 5 stores in Miami called Star’s Beauty and Barber Supply. After she retired from that business she created Star’s Cruising with her best friend Marsha Koolik, having fun selling and taking cruises all the time. She will be remembered as being a loving, kind, generous and philanthropic friend. She loved people and was loved by many people as well. She will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved her.
She passed away Saturday February 23, 2019 at home peacefully with her family around her. Donations in her memory can be made to The City of Hope, 300 Bayview Drive, Sunny Isles Beach, FL 33160.
