Sgt. Marc Lerner's Obituary
SGT Marc Lerner, 30, of Federal Way, WA, passed away on July 31, 2012.He was born in Athens, TX on May 29, 1982 and was raised by his parents Lynn and Barrie Lerner in South Florida. Marc graduated from Piper High School in 2000. He was married to Michelle Lerner on August 4, 2008 in Fulton County, GA.Marc joined the Army on February 21, 2006 from Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Originally enlisted as a Health Care Specialist 68W, he was assigned to HHC 1-15 3BDE 3ID on Kelly Hill, Ft. Benning, GA. On March 10, 2007 he deployed to Iraq to conduct OIF 5. Throughout his 15 month deployment he was a medic for D Co 3rd Plt 1-15. He went to SFAS in October 2008 and was selected to begin the SFQC. He graduated the course as an Indonesian speaking Special Forces Medical Sergeant. He was then stationed at Joint Base Lewis McChord where he served with 1SFG(A) 2nd BN C Co ODA 1232. He deployed to the Philippines in January 2012 and returned home in May 2012. His last assignment was with 1SFG(A) 2nd BN HSC USASFC, at Joint Base Lewis McChord. Throughout his service he received the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Combat Medical Badge, and the Army Good Conduct Medal.Marc is survived by: his wife, Michelle Lerner; his parents, Lynn and Barrie Lerner; his brother, Jeff Lerner; his sister-in-law, Martha Lerner; his sister, Jennifer Lerner; his nephews, Phoenix Lerner and Felix Lerner; and his uncles, Alan Schneider and Thomas Raysor.Marc was very passionate about music, and he was an extremely talented musician. He was a kind person that could never say no to someone in need. He made life fun for all those around him with his quick wit, his easy smile, and his great sense of humor. He did some amazing things in life, and he surely would have done many more if he had more time on this Earth. He loved his family and was a great husband, son, brother, uncle, and nephew. He was also a great friend. He will be missed by all.Marc requested that if monetary contributions are sent in his memory, they should be sent to Susan G.
