Sidney Caplan's Obituary
Sidney Arnold Caplan, 78, of Pembroke Pines, Florida, died Saturday, January 7, 2017.
Sid is predeceased by his parents, Hy and Estelle Caplan. He is survived by his brother Robert Caplan and his wife Denise of New York, Son Larry Caplan of Florida, Daughter Stacy Gannon and husband Ron of New Jersey, Son Jeffrey Caplan of Virginia, and Son Harrison Caplan of Florida. He is lovingly remembered by his seven grandchildren: Ariel Caplan, Matthew Gannon, Allie Caplan, Kaileigh Gannon, Minna Gannon, Evan Caplan and Christopher Gannon.
Sid was born June 9, 1938 in Newark, NJ and raised in Irvington, New Jersey surrounded by family. He enjoyed reading and sports, both playing and watching. As a lifelong New York Giants fan, Sid was particularly satisfied to be able to watch the Giants beat the Cowboys this December. Sid was a protective big brother and devoted father who would never back down from a fight to protect his little brother or miss a sporting event for his kids. He had a bold humor and enjoyed passing the time speaking with family and friends near and far.
The funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Goldstein Funeral Chapel, 2015 Woodbridge Avenue, Edison, NJ. Burial will follow services at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, 189 Gill Lane, Iselin, NJ at 12:30 PM. Following the funeral there will be a shiva with the family. Directions will be provided at the funeral and burial services.
