Sonia Greenspoon's Obituary
GREENSPOON, SONIA (NEE LISS) Peacefully, on Monday, October 22, 2018, in Montreal, Canada. Beloved wife of the late Adam Greenspoon. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Annette and Willard Strug, Gerald and Ellen Greenspoon. Cherished grandmother of Jeff and Robin Strug, Lowell and Elyssa Strug, Lisa Strug and Andrew Murray; Michelle and Scott Barrett, Cheryl and Jimmy Gutt, Rebecca and Matthew Ginder. Adored great-grandmother of thirteen great-grandchildren: Ethan, Danny and Alex Strug; Benjamin and Lily Strug; Ellie, Blair and Leo Murray; Mila and Alec Gutt; Amelia and Levi Barrett; and Frankie Ginder. Daughter of the late David and the late Chana Liss. Predeceased by her siblings who perished in the Holocaust. Sonia was a Holocaust survivor, who immigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1949, and has been a resident of her beloved city ever since. An active participant in Jewish community organizations, including the Women's Federation, a Lion of Judah, and Jewish National Fund, and a donor and benefactor to the Montreal General Hospital Foundation. A participant and supporter of the arts in Montreal, an accomplished bridge player, an avid reader and an art collector. She enjoyed her time playing golf as a member of Hillsdale Country Club and Turnberry Country Club in Miami, Florida. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sonia's memory may be made to the "Greenspoon Family Fund" c/o the Montreal General Hospital Foundation, (514) 934-8230.
