Stephen Noah Horwitz's Obituary
HORWITZ, STEPHEN NOAH, 67, an extraordinarily humble, thoughtful, lover of music and never-ending fun, and gifted physician blessed with a great sense of humor, set sail on his final voyage from his home port Friday evening surrounded by his loved ones. Predeceased by his parents, Michael and Ramona, Steve was born in Champaign, IL and raised on Miami Beach and graduated from Tulane Medical School. Waving him off were his beloved wife, Joyce Melissa Horwitz, brothers Franklin (Karla), Jerrold (Sandra), Sanford (Janet), baby sister Andrea (Kenny), stepmother Shirley and stepsisters, Jana (Robbin), Rebecca, and Michelle. Steve is also survived by his adored nieces and nephews, Rachael (Brandon), Joel (Denisa), Jamie (Fred), Lisa (Josh), Michelle, Zachary, Aaron, Mandi, Allison, Vickie (Vinnie), Hans, Kurt (Teresa), and grandnephews and grandniece, William, Maxwell, Skyler, Phoebe, and cousins, Sandi, Bruce (Elissa), Star, Tina, and so many other relatives, too many to name. Steve was a part of, and touched so many people’s lives and made each person feel as if they were the most special person in his life. And to him, you were. From all facets of Steve’s life, including childhood friends, patients and dedicated staff in his dermatology practice, his life-long sailing buddies, his friends at Coral Reef Yacht Club, and even all his siblings’ friends whom he considered his own, he set everyone’s sails so we all got the most out of the wind blowing in our lives. He will be missed, but his spirit will live on forever. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Service 1pm Monday, August 17, 2015 at Temple Beth Sholom, 4144 Chase Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33140. Arrangements by Blasberg-Rubin-Zilbert (305) 865-2353.
