Steven Richard Baker's Obituary
Steven Richard Baker, 75, of Hollywood, Florida, passed away on September 20, 2022. He was born in Worcester, Mass on December 18, 1946 to his parents Sherman and Lois Baker. When Steven was 3 years old, he put his hands on his hips, looked at his parents and said, “ I’ da boss ‘a me, you ‘da boss ‘a you, don’t tell me what to do….” And that’s the way he went on to live his life- strongly independent, more or less naughty, quite amusing, charming and adorable, then devastatingly handsome. Steven went off to boarding school at 12, then graduated from the University of Miami, and went on to start his businesses, many along with his best friend Eddie Muscio. Living in New York City, first, as a rock and roll concert promoter in the 1970’s. Then he started a business called Run N’ Roll, selling roller skates and sneakers. After that, he traveled around the world to nearly every continent designing and importing shoes for his company, Fantasia. After a fast paced life, he ended up in Hollywood, Florida working for his dear brother Bobby, later going on to own that business. It was in Hollywood that he met his Michele, the love of his life, in 1985. In 1986, they married. They were inseparable ever after. They traveled, they played golf, he loved the game. Steven was a gardener extraordinaire. They called him “Mr. Green Jeans.” They never had children. His many nieces and nephews and certain children of friends in his life were close to him as though they were his own. He called them his kids. They spent time with him and brought him their problems. They listened even if they did their own thing. They loved him and respected him. They were always calling and he treasured that. He is survived by his beloved wife, Michele Dunn Baker, sister Linda Kanner (Dr. Steven), brother -in-law Marc Dunn ( Caryn), 10 nieces and nephews, many grand nieces and nephews and all who knew and loved him.
