Stuart Richard Garber's Obituary
Stuart R. Garber passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025 at the age of 81, in Alexandria, Virginia. He was a loving Husband, Dad, Partner, Grandpa, and Uncle who will be dearly missed. Stu was born on October 22, 1944 in New York City to Harry and Lillian Garber. He attended high school in Manhattan and then Pace College, earning his degree in Business Administration in 1966. He then attended Long Island University earning his Masters in Business Administration in 1971. Growing up working with his electrician father, he developed an interest in construction and building. These experiences and his education led to a position with Miami based General Development Corporation where he worked for many years. Later in his career he began developing and building his own projects in South Florida before retiring. Stu met his wife Joan while both families were vacationing from New York in Miami Beach. They began dating upon return to New York and became married. The family moved to Broward in the early 70's, living in Miramar before settling in Lauderhill. After Joan's passing, and later in life, Stu found happiness with his long time partner, Debbie. Upon her passing, Stu moved to Virginia to be close to family. He is predeceased by his wife Joan (Baron) Garber (d. 2013), daughter Elizabeth Garber (d. 2014), partner Debbie Marinelli (d. 2024), and brother Joel Garber (d. 2017). He is survived by his daughter Bonnie Hannan (Scott), grandsons Harrison Hannan and Jacob Hannan, Debbie's daughter Dawn Hamby (Jake) and granddaughter Sydney, nephew David Garber, niece Kim Luellen (Matt) and grandnephews and nieces Chandler Luellen, Bryton Garber, Sophie Luellen, and Anthony Luellen. Stuart's family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers a donation to the Alzheimer's Association be considered.
