Susan Goldberg's Obituary
Susan Goldberg passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She was 88. Funeral services will be held 12:30 pm on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael, 60 Temple Drive, Springfield, N.J. Interment will follow at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin, N.J.. Born in Germany as the child of holocaust survivors who had escaped from Auschwitz she came to the US on one of the last boats to get out before the war began. She grew up in Newark and graduated from the Winifred Beauty School after finishing High School. She later moved to Springfield, NJ where she lived from 1955-2011 when she moved to Union, NJ. She also maintained a residence in Del Ray Beach Florida for the past 44 years. She was a homemaker for her first husband of 16 years, the late Bernard Sanders, and for her second husband of 20 years Jack Goldberg. She was an active member of Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael of Springfield where she was twice elected to serve as President of its’ Sisterhood (now known as the Women’s League for Conservative Judaism) and was named the Chapter’s “Women of the Year.” She also served as the synagogues first lady during her late husband Jack’s presidency. She is survived by her “soul-mate” of thirty years, Justin Horowitz, of Union, NJ and Del Ray Beach Florida, her daughter Cheryl Sanders Jayne of Springfield, NJ, her son Michael (Linda) Sanders of Florham Park, NJ, five grandchildren, Brooke, Brett, Jennifer, Jaime and Jason and five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emerson, Myla, Dylan and Cora.
