Susan Schwartz Levenberg's Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our matriarch Susan Schwartz Levenberg on Saturday, May 3, 2025. Susan was born June 10, 1931 to Edward and Bess Unger in the Bronx, New York. A graduate of Taft high school in 1948, Susan began her family shortly thereafter raising four children in the first half of their lives in Atlantic Beach New York. Moving to Miami Florida in 1968, she soon found her way with her husband, Richard and family to Bay Harbor Islands settling there in 1970. While becoming a patron of a local restaurant, she and her husband Richard soon found themselves the proprietors of the very popular “Inside” restaurant on Kane Concourse known throughout Miami Beach, Far and wide. Susan often reminisced that this would be regarded as the best time of her life. She so enjoyed working and being the face of her dear restaurant where she became a proficient baker and dessert maker. Along that journey she made many friends throughout the community. It is at the Inside restaurant where she met her soon-to-be future husband, Louis (Lou) Levenberg, where they continued to live happily for nearly 30 years. Our mother Susan possessed some of the best qualities to be able to pass down to her children, grandchildren, and eventually great grandchildren, and for that, we are most grateful. She will forever be missed in our hearts. Beloved wife of the late Richard Schwartz and the late Louis “Lou” Levenberg. She is survived by her children, Cynthia M. Duncan (Julio Blanco), Judith Gretah (the late Zev), the late Kenneth Schwartz, and Robert Schwartz; grandchildren, Oliver Duncan, Elon (Felicia) Gretah, Richard Gretah, Jared Gretah; great-grandchildren Jaden Duncan, Hunter Duncan and Ava Gretah. She is survived by her brother whom she enjoyed and treasured 84-year friendship with Andrew Unger of Cleveland OH, and niece Tracy (Paul) Mackenna and family of Greenwich, CT and nephew Jeremy Unger and family of Jerusalem, Israel.
