Terrie Lynne Newman's Obituary
NEWMAN, TERRIE LYNNE We will miss her unique spirit, laser wit, striking beauty, special talents, huge heart and amazing courage. Terrie, was originally from Brookline, MA and after graduating from University of Mass, moved to NY and began a career as an advertising writer - working first for the global cosmetic giant, Avon. She and her attorney husband, Fred Kerstein, moved to Miami, Fred to be part of the Florida State Attorney's office and Terrie continued her career at advertising agencies, going on to win awards for her creativity. Always open to the next adventure, Miami's climate led Terrie to follow her husband's lead and become a jock; she took up race-walking, then running (half-marathons all over the country), and yoga. She became chairperson of the tree committee for a group planting trees along US 1. As a couple they participated as a dance team in cabaret shows for CGJWC. In recent years, she started doing art work in pastels and quickly showed her talent by being invited into gallery showings, winning awards and having her art chosen for national calendars. Throughout her life, one of her greatest loves was animals. She took in rescued dogs and cats and was an active animal advocate. She will be sorely missed by her husband, Fred Kerstein, her brother Bruce, her sister Geraldine, her dog Sissy, her cats Shorty and Clay, assorted beloved nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grandnephews - and everyone else who had the gift of knowing Terrie. Right now, wherever she is, Terrie is lighting up the sky, writing her own script and dancing to her own drummer. The family will be welcoming visitors Monday and Tuesday, October 20-21, from 5 to 9 PM in Miami (contact for info 305-389-0153). Any donations may be made in Terrie's name to Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research or your favorite animal charity.
