Thelma Baram Agid's Obituary
Ninety-nine years (and two months!) of joy, beauty, love and creativity: Thelma Baram Agid was born in Woonsocket, R.I., the cherished older daughter of Joseph Baram and Bessie (Gordon) Baram. She passed peacefully on November 19, 2023.
Thelma was always artistic, graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design. She soon met a dashing soldier from New York, who swept her off her feet, figuratively and literally. The moment Nathan Agid saw Thelma, he told his buddy, “That’s the girl I’m going to marry.” And he did; they would dance together through life for the next 56 years.
Nat and Thelma raised a lively family: Paul (Lisa Stone), Jeffrey (Paula Steiner), Amy Schneider, and Lori Agid. Juggling four kids with her commitment to her family, her friends, and her art was not easy, but Thelma, who was always “on the go,” managed everything with style.
Thelma and Nat moved from Rhode Island to Florida, where Thelma kept up her painting, made new and retained old friends, and was able to be close to her loving younger sister, Norma Gordon.
In addition to her sister and her children, Thelma is survived by her adored and adoring grandchildren, Shana Agid (Kerry MacNeil), Jennifer Agid, Rebecca Myers (Matt), Larissa Green; and great-grandson, Jennifer’s son, Isaiah Baum. Her devoted caregiver, Emily Jarrett, made her last years easier and more joyful and filled with laughter.
She was predeceased by her husband, Nathan Agid; her parents Joe and Bessie Baram; her brother, Morris Baram, and her beautiful granddaughter, Sara Schneider. And … lots of great paintings.
The family and close friends will celebrate Thelma on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at 12:00 pm at Levitt-Weinstein Beth David Memorial Chapel, 3201 N 72nd Avenue, Hollywood, Florida 33024, and fondly send her on to join Nat and Sara.
