Thomas Shiekman's Obituary
SHIEKMAN, THOMAS (Tom), life partner of Ms. Kelly Krels for 18 years, son of the late Paul Shiekman and Lolly Shiekman, loving brother of John (Karen) Shiekman, Steven Shiekman, and Suzanne Shiekman, amazing uncle to Jessica, Dominique, Benjamin, Michael, Nicola, and Sydney, Tom was born and raised in Miami. An intellectually gifted person, Tom graduated high school at 16, earned a Bachelors Degree from Eisenhower College, a Law Degree from the University of Miami, and a Masters in English Literature from Claremont College. After deciding that law and academics were not for him, Tom found his true love--entertaining people. For many years he made a living as a stand-up comedian, and also hosted several radio sports talk shows. Both of these pursuits allowed him to express his liberal political views, and to pursue his love of sports and sports gaming. Perhaps the peak of his entertainment career came with his wildly unsuccessful but hilarious run for the White House in 1992, in which he placed in front of three other candidates. Tom was a voracious reader, commentator, and learner. He desperately wanted to help make the world a better place.
