Victor Esterlitz's Obituary
Victor Esterlitz, age 99, originally from Philadelphia, PA., passed away peacefully at his home. The Palace in Coral Gables, FL on November 25, 2023. He was born August 11, 1924, to Morris and Charlotte Esterlitz. For 65 years he was married to Shirley Sava, who predeceased him in 2009.
Surviving are two daughters, Cynthia (Philip) Wolman, an accomplished artist, Miami, Florida; Jill (Emery) Sheer, an accomplished Violinist, Miami, Florida. Also surviving are grandchildren Lisa Wolman, Adam (Alexa) Wolman, Danielle (Justin) Sheer-O’Connell, Noah (Khristina) Sheer and great grandchildren; Jack, Xanadu, Samantha, Charlotte.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Alvin Esterlitz. Victor was a lover of music and an avid trumpet player. He was a member of the Olney High School dance band. For his 99th birthday party he played “Happy Birthday” on his trumpet.
He left high school, eleventh grade, in 1942 to join the Coast Guard and was stationed in the Philippines until his honorable discharge in 1946. He went on to become Vice President of Dolly Madison Ice Cream in Philadelphia. Ice Cream was always his favorite food. After retirement he worked for many years as Advertising Executive at For Eyes Optical Company.
On his 93rd birthday he was invited back to Philadelphia by the School Board as part of “Operation Recognition” and on December 13, 2018, he received his high school diploma in cap and gown as the high school band played “Pomp and Circumstance”.
We want to acknowledge his friends and staff for the many years of happy experiences living at the Palace. In particular his loving and kind aides Neslen Jimenez and Ramiro Rivero. A proud, caring gentleman and a kind soul. He will be missed by many.
