Vivian was my second mother from the moment Judy and I became friends at the age of 12. (Judy and Ricky were the siblings I never had.) Vivian and Herb made me their third child. I spent many hours/days in their home. I ate many meals at their table I took many vacations with them. My children called her Grandma Vivian. I am blessed that my husband was able to know her.

We spent many hours sharing our love of books and talking about different authors. We shared a love of mahjong and I am grateful to be the owner of her beautiful set.

Vivian will be missed by all whose lives she touched; and she touched many.

Vivian was a neighbor of mine in Asheville, at the Bella Vista retirement community. I enjoyed her humor, her intelligence (she was also a Jeopardy show junkie!), and was struck by her caring. I moved across town a mo. ago, but saw her at B. Vista a week before she passed. She volunteered to a couple of us that her health was failing fast. Then she immediately changed the subject to her concern for the employees where she lived -- that someone step up to organize the committee, which she headed last year, so that the employees would get monetary Christmas/holiday thank-you gifts from the residents. She knew she'd be unable to be involved, and was urging others to not forget. I feel blessed to have known Viv for four years. My sincere condolences to all of her family and friends. Beth Isaacs
