Wadell Owens' Obituary
With humble submission to the will of Almighty God, we announce the passing of Wadell “Snow” Owens, who peacefully departed this life on April 13, 2026, at the age of 96.
Born on January 21, 1930, in the small town of Riceville just outside of Dublin, Mr. Owens lived a life defined by perseverance, integrity, and an unwavering devotion to his family and community. At an early age, he relocated from Georgia to Florida, where he was raised in the Ojus and Bunche Park communities. It was there that he formed lifelong bonds and established deep roots that would endure for generations.
From an early age, he embraced the value of honest labor. His first employment was at Ives Dairy Farms, where he picked tomatoes and came to personally know Mr. and Mrs. Ives. He held them in great regard, drawing from their example lessons of discipline, diligence, and pride in one’s work—principles he carried with him throughout his life.
In his younger years, Mr. Owens worked as a truck driver, demonstrating both skill and determination. With a desire to advance his craft, he pursued formal training at Lindsey Hopkins Technical College, where he earned his credentials as a diesel mechanic. Equipped with both knowledge and experience, he went on to establish his own mechanic business, a venture that stood as a testament to his independence and entrepreneurial spirit.
In later years, he continued his trade with distinction at Crowley, where he served not only as a mechanic but as the head of the shop until his well-earned retirement. His work was respected, his leadership valued, and his reputation firmly established among those who labored alongside him.
Beyond his profession, Mr. Owens was known for his warm spirit, his quiet strength, and his memorable sayings that brought both laughter and wisdom. He possessed a unique and tender way of expressing his love, affectionately calling his daughters and granddaughters “sugarfoot,” a term that became a cherished expression within the family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eunice Wells and Walter Owens; his stepfather, Nathaniel Fulton; his sons, Kenneth Owens and Wadell Owens Jr.; and his siblings John Westley Owens, Luther Wells, Christine Wells Snell, Odelle Owens Green, Robert Fulton, Mattie Jean Fulton, Nathaniel Fulton (“Lil Bro”), Nathan Fulton (Big bro), Eugene Fulton (“Pete”), Vernell Fulton, Marie Broaders, Harold Owens, and Verna Owens Alexander.
Mr. Owens was one of many siblings who shared deep and abiding family ties. He leaves to cherish his memory his siblings, John Young, Yvonne Brown, and Carolyn Hardy, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who held him in the highest esteem.
He also leaves behind his beloved children: Carolyn Owens, Priscilla Owens, Bernard Owens, Angelia Owens, Anthony Owens, Belinda Owens Mitchell (Richard), Matthew Owens, Lucia Owens, and his bonus daughter, Amber Simi.
He further leaves to cherish his memory Shawn Seykora, who loved him dearly and cared for him with unwavering devotion, tending to him day by day with a full and faithful heart until his final days. Her presence was a source of comfort, strength, and steadfast love.
His legacy lives on through his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and generations yet to come.
Though his earthly journey has come to a close, the life of Wadell “Snow” Owens stands as a testament to faith, perseverance, and enduring love. His presence will be deeply missed, yet his spirit shall remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
