Dear Friends and Family of Amy Beth Karan,
The news of Judge Amy Karan passing is disheartening and comes as a terrible loss. Even though we may not know one another I wish to express my sincere condolences for your loss.
I imagine this is a most difficult time for the family. Please allow these comforting words from the scriptures be of comfort to you. Psalms 34:18 – Jehovah is near to those that are broken at heart; and those who are crushed in spirit he saves.
Jehovah, God remembers those sleep in death, he promises a resurrection from death. So there is hope John 5: 28 – Do not marvel at this because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out …
I hope these words be of some comfort for all. Once again my sincere condolences.

Amy was my best friend in law school. I realize now that I was probably just one of her many best friends. She was just so popular. She was beautiful, smart as a whip and, not surprisingly, had the upper hand with Prof. Hausler. I was fortunate to forge a deep friendship with her in that first year trial-by-fire contracts class (having sat next to her) and we thereafter shared many (happier) moments together -- whether at the Cricket Club, the Grove, the Quad or elsewhere. Our common New York roots, love of law, music and the "good life" couldn't have been a more perfect fit. Sadly, to my great regret, we lost touch over the years. My memories of wonderful times with lovely, beautiful Amy -- my dear friend Amy -- will stay with me all my days.

Amy was my mentor and role model when I was on the DV bench. She was a great teacher and was tenacious, fun, loving, caring and full of life. I am so saddened. May the great memories help ease the pain for her daughter and family. With my sincere sympathy, Cynthia Cox
Judge Karan was one of the best professors I have had in law school. She combined teaching law with real life case experiences making it an unforgettable learning experience. She will be missed. TK, Esq.
