Dr. Lawrence Robbins' Obituary
Lawrence B. Robbins, M.D. of Miami Beach, Florida passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 30th at the age of 83. Dr. Robbins who was born in White Plains, New York moved to Surfside, Florida in grade school. Raised by a fisherman and a stay-at-home mom and piano teacher, Robbins went on to play football at Miami Beach Senior High School, attended Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and the University of Miami Medical School.
Robbins, who became an icon in the field of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery served
as chief of plastic surgery at Mount Sinai and at the Miami Heart Institute. In 1982, Dr. Robbins opened the first licensed private ambulatory plastic surgery center on Miami Beach. A member of the Iron Arrow Honor Society at the University of Miami and countless medical societies and publications, he held numerous elected offices with the Greater Miami Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the Florida Society, the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery where he served for more than 10 years eventually, becoming President in 1997.
Dr. Lawrence Robbins, a devoted father and grandfather is survived by his daughter Jessica Marino of Hollywood, Florida, son-in-law Gregory Marino, and his two beautiful granddaughters, Zari Marino and Alexa “Lexi” Marino.
The family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org in memory of Dr. Lawrence B. Robbins.
Funeral Services will take place Friday, July 2nd at Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center,
2044 NE 30th Avenue. Aventura, Florida at 11:00 a.m. with the burial at 1:00 p.m. at
