Helen Russell's Obituary
RUSSELL, Helen beloved by her family and many friends, died on March 21, 2015
at the age of 103.
Helen was born in 1911 in Nassau, Bahamas. In 1934, she married George Russell and together they spent many years in missionary work in the Bahamas. In 1952, the family moved to Homestead, Florida, where Helen spent the remainder of her life. She loved children and worked in pre-school programs and in private homes as a nanny for many years. She was active in the Sacred Heart Women’s Club and served as chairwoman of the Telephone Committee. She also loved music and was an accomplished pianist. She was an inspiration to all she met.
Helen is survived by her loving family, Mike and Jenny Russell, Marie and Don Simpson, Leonard and Debbie Russell, Michelle Russell, Renee and Keith Green, Nathan Green, Mikayla Green and Chloe Russell.
In lieu of flowers, friends may wish to make a donation in Helen’s memory to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, The Cancer Society of the Bahamas, P.O. Box S.S. 6539, Nassau, Bahamas or a favorite charity.
Funeral Services will be held at Sacred Heart CatholicChurch, 106 SE 2nd Road in Homestead on Thursday, March 26 at 12:00 noon. Interment to follow at Palms Woodlawn Cemetery.
